Organization Overview: The Faculty of Theology is a faculty of Stellenbosch University. We are a faculty for theology, and through research, teaching and learning and community action we are a knowledge partner for other academic communities, various church denominations and institutions of broader society. We fulfil our vocation as academic institution in local, wider Africa, and global contexts.

Subgrant Project Description: The faith formation of youth across varying church traditions is not taken seriously yet there is seeming lament about how young people, across varying faith traditions, are leaving the church. This study is positioned within the tradition of evangelicalism which is currently being contested across contexts. Faith formation as if the youth mattered is an ethnographic study focused on multiple evangelical faith communities across South Africa. It explored how faith formation is conceptualized in various faith communities that adhere to an evangelical theological perspective and how young people’s faith formation journeys are prioritized within these.
