Description: OCMS works advance study, educate and research in God’s mission and to convene practitioners, scholars and leaders in creative and prophetic dialogue, equipping individuals, leaders, churches and institutions, prioritising those on the cutting edge of God’s transforming mission. We do this by responding to issues identified by the church with timely, strategic and rigorous research, creating spaces for mutual learning, and seeking to hear voices that may not otherwise be heard. We partner with Sankt Ignatios College, which offering training and education for men and women who would like to learn more about their Orthodox faith and tradition and also for those who would like to serve the Church in a specific vocational role such as priest, deacon or religious educator.
Subgrant Project Description: Our project explores the enduring tradition of extempore theological poetry in the Ethiopian and Eritrean Orthodox Tewahedo tradition known as Qǝne. These poems are aimed at promoting deep spiritual reflection, seeking to bring about a renewed mind, so promoting worship.
