New Open-Access Publication Explores the Past and Future of Protestant Spiritual Formation
Through a partnership between the Global Formation Project and the Martin Institute for Christianity and Culture at Westmont College, a new special supplemental issue of the Journal of Spiritual Formation and Soul Care explores the history, development, and future of the Protestant spiritual formation movement in North America.
Led by David C. Wang and Steve L. Porter, the publication brings together influential leaders, scholars, and practitioners to reflect on the movement's development over the past several decades and consider its future directions.
The collection includes historical reflections from representatives of eight organizations that helped shape the movement, alongside forward-looking essays examining emerging opportunities and challenges for Christian spiritual formation.
While grounded in the North American Protestant experience, the publication also invites broader reflection on what spiritual formation movements around the world can learn from one another, contributing to the Global Formation Project's commitment to fostering international dialogue and collaboration.
The complete supplemental issue is freely available to read online, expanding access to these reflections for scholars, ministry leaders, students, and others interested in Christian spiritual formation.
